Madhur Bhandarkar has signed Shruti Haasan to play a key role in his first comedy Dil To Bachcha Hai Ji and says she and Emran Hashmi will look perfect on screen.

“Shruti met me some months ago expressing her desire to work with me. I thought she would suit the part opposite Emran Hashmi perfectly,” said Bhandarkar.

Though not willing to admit that Kamal Haasan had any hand in Shruti’s presence in the comedy, Bhandarkar does admit he is a great fan of the actor.

“Kamal-ji is a legend. And I can’t say the thought of working with his daughter did not pass through my mind. However, I must add that Shruti is a very bright, pretty and talented girl. She’s bound to go far.”

Shruti, 24, debuted in Bollywood with Luck but the film bombed and apparently her career had come to a standstill.

Mumbai: Singer-turned-actor Shruti Haasan is quietly nurturing dreams of being an entrepreneur. She will soon launch her own fashion label. Shruti says her designs will be inspired from the different genres of music and it will cater to young women in India.

“It is certainly a project that is close to my heart. Fashion is something that has always interested me. I feel style is an extension of your own personality and I have always worn outfits that echo who I am and what I feel about life. The line will be inspired from music and the genres that fascinate me. From dresses to jackets and leather boots to skinny pants — it will have it all. It will have lots of colours and a lot of mix-n-match elements,” she says.

Speaking more about her line, Shruti says, “I’m a moody person and fashion for me depends on the kind of mood I’m in. So, my line will be for women who have mood swings like me and want to experiment with clothes. Basically, it is for those who wear their attitude and are not scared to try out different things. It will be young and chic and for the women of today’s India who have a strong sense of individuality and a free spirit.”

The actor also reveals that she doesn’t have a brand fetish. “I don’t believe in labels. I mean, who doesn’t want to have brands in their wardrobe but before I pick something from any big label, I ask myself is it really me who’s wearing the ensemble? Style can’t be forced, it always shows. You can’t carry clothes that do not bring out the real you. You will be uncomfortable.”

Ask her how she is going to mix music with fashion and Shruti reveals, “I dress up according to the act I am performing. I wear a lot of bling with a gown. Then I wear biker jackets and team them up with jeans. I mix and match a lot. I will use these as elements in my line.”

She signs off saying, “I love casuals and so my line will also have the relaxed Sunday dress-up wear along with Saturday night party wear. It is for women who enjoy their weekend and gear up for work on Monday. I will take my line across India and I’m hoping to get a great response from women.”

Shruti Haasan, who entered B-Town with the film ‘Luck’ where she starred opposite chocolate boy Imran Khan, is a musician first. Shruti Hassan as many people must know is the daughter of superstar Kamal Hassan and beautiful actress Sarika.

I’m exited to see what Bollywood comes up with for me.” And does she feel that she might not fit in? “I have always felt in general that I might not fit in, in life”, she states.

Debutante Shruti Haasan is yet to get exposed to the world but the new gal has already started to make headlines. First, her bikini strip created news, second her talent in singing astonished all and now her nose surgery is creating hullabaloo. Where actresses in Bollywood still hesitate to reveal any surgery done on them, Shruti is bold enough to accept the nose job done on her. She has no qualm in accepting that before the shooting of ‘Luck’, she has got her nose job done.

Shruti claimed that it was not for any beautification but for medical purpose as for a long time she was suffering from breathing problem.

“It is true that I underwent a nose surgery while I was abroad recently. But that was because I had a medical condition that restricted free breathing. There was no other reason for that. Now, post the surgery, I can finally sleep in peace and it has also enhanced my vocal skills”, quips Shruti.

Shruti had got the surgery done in the US. As Shruti is a band singer, before the surgery, she made sure that it would not affect her vocal chord.

How much talent Kamal Haasan and Sarika’s daughter got in acting and singing can be judged from ‘Luck’ as it is going to hit the theatre on July 24.

A promotional event for Soham Shah’s Luck, was held at a Mumbai five-star hotel on Wednesday with the cast and crew. Debutant actress Shruti Hassan crooned the title track Aazma Luck followed by a screening in which each of the actors invited the crowds to place their bets on them.

Dutt could not attend the event as he was shooting for Aladin’s promo track at the same time. She sported in blue jeans and performed in the stage with full of energy. This will be the first of kind that any debutant actress is a singer also and performed in stage.
